Welcome everyone and thank you for joining us. This is valid arguments. A show about aquaphobic stevedores. I’m Jeremy Horton, and Today were going to be talking about what I wanted to be when I grew up. Child actors! We will also be arguing about JP morgan, and one of my favorite movies. Joining me today is Mr. Milo Mordhorst on my right. (Milo intro). And Mr. Joel Barkley on my left. (Joel intro). Thank you both, now I will get into the questions in a minute, but first let’s have a word from our sponsor.

Questions I will ask:

  • Let’s start with the infamous Lindsay Lohan. She has the most amazing twitter. An excerpt from it reads “WHY is everyone in SUCH a panic about hurricane (I’m calling it Sally) …? Stop projecting negativity! Think positive and pray for peace,”. The hurricane she was referring to was called Sandy, and it killed 285 people. My next question is about social media. How long do child actors get a pass on social media trolling? – milo
  • Let’s turn now to another big one. Hannah Montana. Now for those of you who don’t know Hanna Montana was the daughter of country music legend Billy Ray Cyrus. Ole Billy ray constructed the persona Hanna Montana for his daughter so she could follow in his footsteps as one of the greatest musicians of all time. We all know her after the government microchipped her and made her grind all up on Robin Thicke. My question is about this transformation process. When is it ok to sexualize a child actor? – Joel
  • Palette cleanser/segment – I just saw Titanic for the first time. Do you think JP Morgan planned that?
  •  Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling. What do they all have in common? They are all former members of the mickey mouse club. They were also all wildly successful after the mickey mouse club. Something I’ve always wondered about that show and specifically those celebrities. Do you think they also have to hate the Jews?
  • Edward furlong. You know him from such hits as The Crow, and Terminator 2: Judgement day. You may also know him from hitting women. He has been arrested three separate times for hitting a woman, one of which he was actually violating his probation that he got, from hitting a woman. Given the environment these people live in, should we have different rules/laws for child actors?
  •  Palette cleanser/segment – Was there room for Jack on the door?
  • Let’s turn now to the original child star. Shirley Temple. That adorable bundle of curls was the poster child for other little ones to get into the entertainment industry. Fun fact about miss Temple, she acquired 2.4 million as a result of her child acting. Another fun fact when her trust was released to her after coming of age, she had accrued 33,000. Pretty good right? My question is about parenting. How much of the money should I keep if I decide to sell my kid to Hollywood?
  • Let’s talk about JT. I mean JTT. That’s right, Jonathan Taylor Thomas. JTT had glorious run on the show Home Improvement, and then starred as young Simba in the Original Lion King. He then left to pursue education at Harvard, St. Andrews, and Columbia. His last appearance was on the Home improvement reboot and has since spent his time living his life quietly outside the spotlight. The question is, is he an alien, or is it possible for child stars to live normal lives after their 15 minutes is up.

Welcome everyone and thank you for joining us. This is valid arguments. A show that’s fair and balanced, as all things should be. I’m Jeremy Horton, and Today were going to be talking about zoos, again. We’re calling it zoos 2: electric boogaloo! We will also be arguing about fitness, and spending time with your family. Joining me today is Mr. Milo Mordhorst on my right. (Milo intro). And Mr. Joel Barkley on my left. (Joel intro). Thank you both, now we’ll get into the questions but we should address that this is actually not an episode about zoos but rather animal extinction, and the various ways it takes place.

Questions I will ask:

  •  Let’s start today with a sentiment that I think everyone can relate to. Some species need to go extinct. The passenger pigeon was useless. It’s even sometimes necessary to introduce a non-indigenous species to control another species that’s not only being useless but hurting the environment. My first question is that is there a case to be made for hunting useless animals to extinction? jeremy
  •  A lot of this argument centers around the extinction of animals. If there was no danger of these animals going extinct, it wouldn’t be illegal to hunt them. Now Pandas are dumb. So dumb that they will most likely go extinct without anyone hunting or selling them to rich folks. So, on the flip side of my last question, should we stop certain animals from going extinct that would otherwise do so? joel
  • Palette cleanser/segment – Can people go to the gym without telling you about it
  •  You guys eat stuff, right? Ya me too. I bring it up because here in America we eat animals at a completely unsustainable rate. As far as exotic animals, we don’t. We hardly eat them at all. 2-part question here. Should we eat more endangered animals, and do they taste better? joel
  •  This next question is a philosophical one and one that we here at Valid Arguments have debated time and time again. Are humans a part of nature? Therefore, rendering anything we do or any animal we make go extinct as a natural occurrence. milo
  •  Palette cleanser/segment – which holiday is the worst?
  •  I love elephants. I watched a video of an elephant yesterday where it painted a picture of an elephant with its trunk. It was so adorable. Anyway, my question is does ivory give you a boner?
  •  Next up I think I have a pretty easy valid argument here. I’ve worn several fur coats and every time I am not disappointed. They’re warm, comfortable, and give you that feeling of superiority that only killing one of the last snow leopards can give you. With that, are fur coats super awesome?

summarize Joel and Milo end arguments* I think that both sides have………………Valid Arguments. Tonight’s winner had this to say. If anyone’s going to bring about mass extinction, it’ll be Donald Trump. Nikki Glaser, ladies and gentleman. If you are for the exotic animal trade then I suggest you move to a country with exotic animals and buy a high-powered rifle. If you want the senseless extinction of animals outlawed entirely, then I suggest you get in touch with the world wildlife fund and see how you can help out.  If you decide to do nothing, then at the very least, keep arguing and talking about it. Top of the show

Welcome everyone and thank you for joining us. This is valid arguments. A show about the good ole days, when candy was a penny, and grunge wasn’t considered classic rock. I’m Jeremy Horton, and Today were going to be talking about Nostalgia, this is what a millennials midlife crisis looks like. We will also be arguing about good role models, and then we will put you in a VERY awkward position. Joining me today is Mr. Milo Mordhorst on my right. (Milo intro). And Mr. Joel Barkley on my left. (Joel intro).  nostalgic memory is. Milo, then joel.

Questions I will ask:

  • Nostalgia is defined as a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past. It comes from the Greek word for homesickness. This characterization has been eating at me. My first question is that if these memories are happy in nature, why are these feelings of homesickness or longing what we associate them with? Joel
  •  Nostalgia is often associated with meaningful memories. Clay Routledge wrote a book about his labs experience with nostalgia and what they found was that it is most often triggered by meaninglessness, loneliness, and sadness. Studies show that when people are overwhelmed with existential dread, feelings of nostalgia can increase productivity and help cultivate relationships. Given that, I could see nostalgia as being a sort of defense mechanism that our bodies use to cope with our meaningless existence. That’s not a question, just wanted to put it out there.
  • Palette cleanser/segment – Is Batman a good role model
  •  I’ve been reading a little bit about group nostalgia. It is said that experiencing group nostalgia can be a sort of glue that holds a group together. With that logic it would seem that we should all strive for group nostalgia in order to move us all forward together. Do you guys think there’s any downside to group nostalgia?
  •  It’s no secret, times have changed. The culture now is a lot different from the culture we consider nostalgic. So, let’s play a game. What’s a nostalgic show/movie that would be super problematic nowadays?
  •  Palette cleanser/segment – Is yoga exercise or just creative standing
  • Some people report feelings of nostalgia for a particular time period. Some for time periods they weren’t even alive for. As we just mentioned, some movies can try to create a type of historical nostalgia presented as a way to help people kind of cope with their current lives. Do you think that’s ok or should these sad sacks just learn to pick themselves up and move the fuck on with their lives?
  •  Studies done have shown that music and movies are some of the biggest triggers for nostalgic feelings. What do you guys think is the most nostalgic piece of pop culture for you personally?
  •   Palette cleanser/segment
  • In the past 20 years we have went from barely having flip phones, dial up internet, and other incredible advances that contribute to our society in immeasurable ways. So, were the good ole days really that good?

Argument for:

  • . Because you’re not doing it right.
  •  Make America Great Again.

Argument Against

  •   Clay Routledge is the authority on this matter. He theorizes that these feelings may actually be associated with a negative time in your life and we use nostalgia as a sort of defense mechanism against that trauma.
  • Ace Ventura, pet detective. You have a problem with transgender people, Jim?
  • although textual analysis showed the nostalgic memory descriptions were more positive, across all condition’s positivity was no indicator of intention to volunteer
  •  In nostalgic moments, each memory becomes magnified, not only in terms of depth of meaning, but also of emotional experience. There is generally a longing to go back to these past experiences with a desire to hold each moment close and not let it go.
  •  The only good memories are dead ones.

Welcome everyone and thank you for joining us. This is valid arguments. A show about glass houses and sinking ships. I’m Jeremy Horton, and Today were going to be talking about Zoos, or as I call them, the geo-prison industrial complex. We will also be arguing about golf, and if our athletes should be nicer to one another. Joining me today is Mr. Milo Mordhorst on my right. (Milo intro). And Mr. Joel Barkley on my left. (Joel intro). Thank you both, now I want to start by getting your initial takes on zoo’s and if you think they should allow more guns on the premises (currently allow 0 per person).

Questions I will ask:

  •  The top three animals that zoos want are tigers, lions, and lemurs. They do this not for any conservation efforts, but because of the entertainment factor. Do you think zoos should be able to capture any animal, like the playful baby sea-otter as long as it amuses us?
  • The biggest problems facing zoos given their pro conservation stance is the unsustainability of many animal programs. Many of the animals produce more offspring than zoos have space for. They deal with this issue with Surplus management strategies that mainly involve sterilization and euthanasia. Don’t we owe our prisoners like the late great gorilla Harambe a little more than a short life in a small hole?
  • Palette cleanser/segment – Is golf a sport
  •  There’s some evidence to suggest that captive animals struggle with their mental health. depression in leopards, OCD in brown bears, and a condition called “zoochosis” that makes them do some pretty crazy stuff.  You think zoos should be required to provide psychologists and mental health professionals to their prisoners like the wildly impractical but loveable giraffe?
  •  Palette cleanser/segment – Should fighting be allowed in hockey
  •  A lot of heartless people argue that zoo research obtained from the animal slaves we took, is essential to understanding our ecosystem. Is that really a good justification for mercilessly tearing families apart?
  • Do you think zoos should make more of an effort to reunite families like the adorable bottle-nose dolphin after ripping them apart and scarring them for life?
  •  Palette cleanser/segment
  • In 2014 the us court of appeals (which included justice Kavanaugh at the time) OSHA vs. SEAWORLD ruled that SeaWorld was guilty not protecting their employees. SeaWorld has over 100 incidents of orca aggression towards trainers including three deaths. At what point do you kind of have it coming when you go into that kind of work?

Argument for:

  • . Every year, AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums spend $220 million on field conservation alone, supporting more than 2,600 projects in 130 countries. To date, the AZA Conservation Grants Fund has provided $7.7 million in support for 400+ projects worldwide.
  •  Last year alone, 146,136 students embarked on learning experiences at Zoos Victoria, seeking greater connections with wildlife and the skills needed to equip our children with as they inherit stewardship of a stressed planet.
  •  for many species (but no, not all) it is perfectly possible to keep them in a zoo or wildlife park and for them to have a quality of life as high or higher than in the wild. They also have no fear of predators
  •  Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington is leading global research efforts on the detection and treatment of the sometimes-fatal elephant herpes virus, with the ultimate goal of developing an effective vaccine to be administered to the species in both zoo and wild populations
  •  Isn’t it better to be alive and alone then dead together?

Argument Against

  • A study published in the journal PLOS ONE (which is dedicated to original research from all disciplines within science) found that only 18 percent of land animals in zoo collections are threatened or endangered
  •   Less than 10 percent of the 2,800 wildlife exhibitors licensed by the United States Department of Agriculture under the Animal Welfare Act meet the more comprehensive standards of AZA accreditation.
  •  Surplus management strategies are one of the best-kept secrets of modern zoos. In 2014, the world reacted with shock and outrage when a healthy 2-year-old giraffe named Marius was killed and cut up in front of spectators at Copenhagen Zoo. His body was then fed to the lions. (hey click here!) That site details some tips to avoid animal suffering. One of which is DO NOT EAT ENDANGERED ANIMALS!
  •  normal behaviors are regulated and eliminated with regimes of food and artificial pairing. The daily routine in zoos is repetitive and monotonous. In most cases there is no type of privacy or stimulation and, as such, just as we would, animals suffer emotionally.
  •  Texas has the world’s second-largest tiger population, due to private citizens’ propensity for keeping these big cats as pets. It is still legal in 29 states to buy a tiger. In Alabama they don’t even require a permit to keep an exotic animal. Although they have restrictions on the animals that are prohibited from being sold possessed or imported, like the mongoose coyote and wild turkey, there is no regulation on non-human primates, big cats, wolves or any other large predator.
  •  Ya they definitely had it coming.

Welcome everyone and thank you for joining us. This is valid arguments. A show that makes cock fighting seem a little more humane. I’m Jeremy Horton and, Today were going to be talking about video games, and which ones are for noobs.  We will also be arguing about our education system, and why the fun police are always ruining our good time.  Joining me today is Mr. Milo Mordhorst on my right. (Milo intro). And Mr. Joel Barkley on my left. (Joel intro). Thank you both, now for this episode we are going to be arguing on behalf of our favorite consoles, mine being the all-powerful Xbox. I want to get your initial takes on your own game systems.

Questions I will ask:

  • So, the big question on everyone’s mind is one that I’m not going to skirt around for the entire episode and have this tension the whole time. Let’s just get it out of the way. Are video games good for you
  •  There’s been a lot of talk about what effect video games have on our youth. Which video game do you guys think is the violentest
  • Palette cleanser/segment – is homeschooling better than public schooling?
  • What’s your favorite classic video game?
  •  One thing I’ve noticed in my time of playing video games is how scantily clad the women are. I mean come on; how would the women of soul caliber even begin to fight in those balloon cocoons? Those boulder holders wouldn’t keep a pebble in place. I can’t seem to find any games with the same sexualization of men. So, my question is, why are video games so homophobic
  •  Palette cleanser/segment – Should we raise the BAC limit on breathalyzer tests?
  • Did you guys play the new God of War? It won best art and graphics in 2018. I personally loved it. Do you guys think video games can be considered an art form?
  •  I personally find video games soothing in a way. After a long day of work, there’s nothing I like more than sitting down and becoming the god that is master chief in the incomparable halo 5 guardians. But that’s us young guys. My question is what video games do you guys think most old people play to relax these days? (on Xbox)?
  •  Palette cleanser/segment – some fuckin thing.
  • Which video game is destined to replace our real lives?

Argument for:

  •  Video games are the best thing for you. They can increase your hand eye coordination. They even cure diseases? Got lazy eye? Play some video games and stop looking like a damn chameleon.
  • Gears of war man. What’s more metal than sawing a dude in half with a chainsaw gun?
  •  Halo one bruh, all the way.
  •  What do you think jax should be coming out in assless chaps or something? You fuckin sausage and beans lovin faaaaaaaaaaaag.

Argument Against

  •   I guess it depends on your definition of bad? Are they bad if they cause violence? Are they bad if they cause anti-social behavior? I think the more time you spend playing video games, the less time you’re spending in the real world. Kids should be forming real relationships in the real world. Not fake relationships with sweeter graphics.
  • I would say most are violent. Especially shooter games…and fighter games, and role-playing games, and come to think of it I don’t like how much the L shape in Tetris looks like a gun.
  •  It’s hard to pick a favorite bringer of the apocalypse. Death I suppose would be the obvious choice. I suppose a case could be made for famine.  but if I have to pick, Im kind of a fan of Gallaga
  •  it is a serious problem. Just as video games are a problem. The low brow cheap titilation is only a part of the video game lifestyle because who they are marketing to is mainly lonely nerdy men with no social skills.
  •  I think you need to listen to your elders young one. How many video games did they play growing up? None, and you know what that got them? An enormous amount of good character and lifelong relationships based on mutual suffering and technological ignorance.
  •  All of them are raping our childrens ability to communicate in a social setting. They will replace our lives over my dead body. Which will likely last another 10-15 years.
